Approval

Are you interested in helping CorridorCommute by contributing updates? We’re currently seeking help from drivers in all parts of the corridor. Contributors must be approved, so as to prevent excessive noise or spam in the distribution channels.

Please email corridorcommute@gmail.com with a few notes about routes you regularly take and how you would prefer to submit updates (via text message, email, or Twitter).

How It Works

Messages received from users by the site (either through Twitter, email, or text message) are redistributed back through those same channels. Some users follow @CorridorCommute on Twitter, some have signed up for email notifications, and soon text messaging will be available.

Contributing via Twitter

To have an update distributed on CorridorCommute, an approved user simply includes “#ccu” in a tweet. The following tweet will be reposted to CorridorCommute:

Traffic on 380 NB near Quaker Oats at a standstill #ccu

Mentioning @CorridorCommute used to cause a CorridorCommute update, but does not any longer. The following tweet will not be posted to the CorridorCommute account:

If you drive in the Cedar Rapids or Iowa City areas, you should check out @CorridorCommute

This change makes it possible to share @CorridorCommute without having your tweet rebroadcast to all of CorridorCommute (as demonstrated above).
